Josephine Klaas – Runner Up 2026 Civic Engagement Scholarship

Josephine believes in the quiet power of showing up, and she does, every single day. As president of Bishop Kelly’s Red Cross Club, she leads three annual blood drives, and as co-leader of PATHS (Programs Assisting the Homeless Students), she has spent countless hours tutoring children at the Boise Rescue Mission and organizing the club’s $15,000 Back to School Event. As Idaho’s first Youth Poet Laureate, Joey has used her gift for words to reflect, connect, and inspire, building her service around the belief that words are a way of caring for people.

Josephine will be graduating from Bishop Kelly High School and plans to attend the University of Tulsa to study Public Administration.
