The Treasure Valley Family YMCA has a long commitment to ensuring the children and youth we serve are safe and protected from abuse. As part of the commitment, we are excited to share that we have received Praesidium Accreditation for our facilities and programs.

Praesidium is a leader in abuse risk management and has worked with over 4,000 organizations globally for 30 years. Praesidium Accreditation is a standardized, consistent, and objective process that allows organizations to publicly demonstrate their commitment to abuse prevention by meeting or exceeding abuse prevention standards.

As part of this commitment to create a safe, nurturing environments in which our mission of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility can be accomplished, we will be updating our age policies, effective October 1, 2024.

For Our Younger Members

In all of our membership branches, youth under the age of 12 will need to be in a supervised activity, in a supervised area of the building, or be accompanied by a supervising adult. All other age policies remain unchanged.

What does this mean? Youth under the age of 12 will need to:

  • Have an adult supervising them while using our facilities; or
  • Be registered for and attending a YMCA program; or
  • Be in a designated area with staff who are tasked with supervising or monitoring that area.

We expect that this change will not disrupt your family’s experience at the Y, but if you have any questions or would like to discuss what this might mean for your child, please contact the Safety and Risk Department at risk@ymcatvidaho.org or visit the dedicated space on our website for more information.

You deserve the highest level of safety and abuse protection while participating in YMCA programs and using YMCA facilities. Thank you for allowing us to continue to provide safe avenues for life-changing and life-sustaining experiences for years to come.
