Kid Zones
CHECK-IN/OUT & TAGGING SYSTEM
Upon entering the Kid Zone reception area, members will be asked to scan their barcode to check-in. Our staff will ask the guardian where they plan to be in the facility, and how long they expect the child to be in our care. This ensures we’re able to easily locate parents and guardians within the facility. Our system will generate a sticker with the child’s name, expected pick-up time and emergency contact information.
Should a non-member or guest use Kid Zone, our staff will create the sticker manually, noting emergency contact information and authorized pick-up names.
To check-out, parents/guardians will be verified as approved to pick-up the participant by the photo associated with the membership account or by photo ID.
CHILD HEALTH POLICY
Keeping all participants, members, and staff healthy is important to the day-to-day operations of Kid Zone. A child who is ill may not be checked into Kid Zone. If a child becomes ill while in Kid Zone, a staff member will contact the parent/guardian, and request that the child be taken home. A child is considered ill when the following symptoms are present:
- Communicable disease
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Persistent runny nose
- Conjunctivitis
A doctor’s note may be requested to participate in Kid Zone, in order to protect all members.
DIAPER CHANGING & POTTY TRAINING
Keeping Kid Zone safe and clean for all participants is a high priority. Parents are asked to bring children to Kid Zone with unsoiled diapers or undergarments, as well as come prepared with additional diapers staff may use to change their child. We ask that parents provide 1-2 diapers, wipes, and a change of clothing in a resealable plastic bag for any child requiring diapering.
Potty training is an important and challenging time in a child’s development. Our Kid Zone staff understands the effort that parents/guardians make to keep the process consistent and positive for their child. To keep the environment safe and clean we do ask that a child who is in the potty training process wear a training diaper for their short stay in Kid Zone. Kid Zone staff encourage potty breaks and will take your child to the restroom if they request it.
Kid Zone staff will only change the diapers of children 2 and under. If a child over the age of 3 requires a diaper change, staff will promptly notify the parent/guardian.
SHOES REQUIRED
Children participating in Kid Zone who are able to walk are required to wear shoes. Children (who are able to walk) without shoes will not be allowed to participate unless the parents/guardians are able to provide shoes. Shoes are a requirement for health, fire, and safety policies.
Downtown Boise YMCA: Children may remove their shoes while in the Ball Room as long as socks are worn at all times.
