At the Treasure Valley Family YMCA, inclusion isn’t just a value—it’s a commitment. Every day, the Y works to ensure that individuals of all abilities have access to programs, spaces, and opportunities that help them grow, connect, and thrive.
Through adaptive and inclusive programming—led by the Y’s THRIVE initiative—the goal is simple but powerful: to create a community where everyone belongs.
What is THRIVE?
THRIVE stands for Together Helping Realize Inclusive Victories Everyday, and it’s designed to support children and adults who are neurodiverse—while remaining open and welcoming to all.
Located at the Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA, the THRIVE Center offers a thoughtfully designed environment where participants and caregivers can feel safe, supported, and empowered. With trained, compassionate staff and intentionally curated spaces, THRIVE provides a positive experience for every individual who walks through its doors.
Spaces Designed for Success
The THRIVE Center is built with the unique needs of participants in mind. From low-sensory rooms with calming swings and quiet spaces to high-energy areas featuring obstacle courses and interactive play equipment, every detail is intentional.
These environments allow individuals to engage in ways that feel comfortable and encouraging—whether that means relaxing in a calming space or exploring movement and activity in a more stimulating setting.
Programs that Build Confidence & Independence
Adaptive programming at the Y goes far beyond recreation. Each offering is designed to support personal growth, skill development, and independence.
Participants can take part in:
- Life skills classes, including cooking and money management, that help build confidence for everyday living
- Adaptive and inclusive sports, where teamwork, friendship, and fun take center stage
- Social and creative activities, like arts and crafts, music, dance, and group fitness classes
- Adaptive personal training, tailored to individual goals and abilities
These programs empower participants to learn new skills, try new activities, and celebrate their progress—no matter where they’re starting from.
AquAbility: Building Confidence in the Water
Water can be a powerful place for growth, and the Y’s AquAbility program helps make that possible.
Designed for individuals with diverse abilities, AquAbility focuses on building water safety, confidence, and independence. Participants work alongside caregivers and trained staff to develop physical, cognitive, and communication skills—while gaining comfort in the water.
A Place Where Everyone Belongs
The YMCA is committed to building a stronger, more equitable community where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity and support.
Whether someone is developing life skills, trying a new sport, or simply making a new friend, the Y is a place where differences are embraced and every success is celebrated.
Because at the Y, inclusion isn’t an option—it’s who we are.
