Saint Alphonsus Rehabilitation Services (STARS) recognizes that June is National Men’s Health Month, a time to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. This recognition is to encourage and support men to take charge of their health, get screened for common health conditions, and break the silence about the impacts men’s health problems have on our families and communities. The first week in June is also National Headache Awareness Week. We treat many patients who suffer from headaches. Tension headaches are the most common kind of headache, and they typically result from tension in the muscles that support your head and neck. These headaches can occur for a variety of reasons, most commonly from holding your head in the same position for a long period of time, such as when you are sitting at a computer. If you experience two to three tension headaches a week, the condition may be chronic and require physical therapy intervention to treat the tight muscles.
June 3rd is National Cancer Survivors Day. National Cancer Survivors Day® is a CELEBRATION for those who have survived, an INSPIRATION for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of SUPPORT for families, and an OUTREACH to the community.
