Scholarships
The Treasure Valley Family YMCA provides college scholarships to support young people in our community as they work to achieve their educational goals, empowering them to pursue their dreams and build brighter futures. This commitment reflects the Y’s dedication to nurturing potential, promoting academic success, and fostering a spirit of service and leadership in the next generation.
YMCA Civic Engagement Scholarship
Each year the Treasure Valley Family YMCA invites high school students to apply for the Civic Engagement Scholarship as part of the organization’s commitment to youth development and social responsibility.
Scholarships are available for seniors at any high school in the area served by the Treasure Valley Family YMCA (Ada and Canyon Counties) who have made significant contributions to their community through community service.
Applications are evaluated based on the local student’s dedication and passion for working collaboratively to find solutions to civic issues. Each year, scholarship judges learn about passionate students finding creative methods to address homelessness, access to healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, and more. Each must demonstrate an interest in pursuing civic work that will improve our community, whether as a career or volunteer.
Current YMCA staff and volunteers or relatives of staff and volunteers are eligible to apply for this award. Participation in YMCA programs is not required. Scholarships are possible thanks to a generous endowment fund from Ed and Dottie Stimpson designed to recognize the potential of young people to improve the world through civic engagement and civil discourse.
This scholarship will be awarded based on demonstrated commitment to working within our communities to bring positive change and is not based on academic or athletic achievement. Consideration will be given to students who may have difficulty furthering their education without financial assistance.
