At Saint Alphonsus Rehabilitation Services (STARS), there are many ways that our therapists can help those who are undergoing treatment. Our occupational therapists and physical therapists focus on different aspects of the patients’ plan of care that work together to help the patient feel stronger, healthier, and happier.
Many STARS therapists are trained to address common side effects of cancer and its treatment, including fatigue, pain, weakness, cognitive difficulties, anxiety or depression, and changes in self-esteem or self-image. To achieve a more comfortable state of mind and physicality, the therapists help patients gain strength and mobility through an individualized exercise program. The program helps them to accomplish daily tasks and activities more easily. STARS therapists also help patients make any necessary changes to their home and living environment to enhance the patients’ experiences in them.
Our physical therapists focus on the patients’ abilities to be active and comfortable. They work to achieve this by improving mobility and physical function. By improving a patient’s daily performance, the patient’s pain will begin to decrease, and their flexibility and balance, along with their strength and endurance, will start to increase. As it is stated on our website, “Physical Therapy helps patients and their caregivers regain a sense of hope and control over their health.”
Cancer causes a lot of stress and worry; however, Saint Alphonsus Rehabilitation Services is here to help patients and families gain more hope and freedom during treatment. To schedule an appointment, or if you have further questions, please contact us at 208 367 7827 or visit us at www.starspt.org
